Job Title:

IT Quality Assurance Specialist 

Location:

Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote
Preferred Locations (in order of priority):

1. Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH

2. Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX

Contract-to-Hire: Yes (must be open to conversion; no visa sponsorship)

About the Team:

You will be part of the Enterprise Data as a Service (EDS) group, which provides centralized streaming services for customer demographic data across the entire bank. The team is currently expanding due to new platform development and potential merger/acquisition preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute test plans for Kafka-based data services.

• Validate data flow through Kafka including serialization/deserialization (e.g., JSON, Avro).

• Conduct message testing and verify data accuracy from source systems to Kafka consumers.

• Write and run queries in Oracle and MongoDB to support data validation and mapping logic.

• Troubleshoot Kafka client configuration and related issues.

• Utilize tools like Postman and Git for testing and version control.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and use Jira, Confluence, and Xray for documentation and test management.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

• Kafka (client configuration, consumer/producer concepts, security, troubleshooting)

• Oracle (SQL queries)

• MongoDB

• Message testing experience (JSON, Avro, Kafka messages)

• Postman

• Git

• Jira / Confluence

• Xray

• Agile methodologies

Preferred Industry Experience:

• Banking, healthcare, or retail – especially working with personal/demographic data.

Soft Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Excellent problem-solving ability

• Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
